Before hitting the road, make sure you have the Inner Line Permit (ILP) to cross Khardung La, which can be obtained from the District Commissioner’s office in Leh. To avoid unnecessary hassle, try to keep more than one copy of the ILP with you as they will be needed at checkpoints along the way.

You can always encourage bikers on the way by giving them a boost if you want!

Once at the top, you will find a small canteen that serves hot maggi, tea and
thukpa. Since you’ve come all this way, it’s a good idea to eat something and hang out a bit. Don’t practice much and try to click pictures for memories. Stop at the souvenir shop at the top, buy something, so you can tell the world about your accomplishment.

Note that the wind in there might end up temporarily numbing your fingers, but don’t worry, you’ll get used to it; try to keep your stay up there short though. All in all, a drive up here will be an unforgettable experience. So, are you ready for a daring ride through the Khardungla Pass!
