Air India Express directive is in line with protocol followed in Abu Dhabi by flag carrier Etihad Airways
Passengers departing from Abu Dhabi to any destination in India must have a PCR test result taken within 72 hours before departure, Air India Express said on Monday.
Earlier on Saturday, the airline said passengers who had taken both doses of the Covid-19 vaccination in India were exempted from taking PCR tests before departing to India from the United Arab Emirates.
However, in a travel update for people traveling specifically from Abu Dhabi International Airport, the airline clarified that such relaxation was not applicable when flying from the capital. .
“All passengers departing from Abu Dhabi Airport must have an RT-PCR report issued within 72 hours,” the airline said on Monday.

“You must pass a PCR test to travel with Etihad Airways even if the country you are flying to does not require it,” Etihad Airways said.
