Banyan Tree AlUla debuts in Saudi Arabia

Banyan Tree launches its first property in historic AlUla in Saudi Arabia, ushering in the Group’s debut in the Kingdom. AlUla attracts the attention of affluent world travelers with its fascinating blend of history, culture and entertainment, all set against a breathtaking desert backdrop dating back millions of years.
Inspired by the nomadic nature of Nabataean architecture, the all-villa and tented resort embodies Banyan Tree’s commitment to local influence. The fundamentals of the resort are designed around three concepts that allow guests to immerse themselves in the resort and the destination:

  • “In-villa” offers guests bespoke offers brought to life by the talented cast of Banyan Tree hosts.
  • “In-valley” takes guests into the essence of AlUla through signature outdoor treatments, nomadic chef tables, active adventures and private events held in spectacular settings.
  • “En-voyage” takes guests through privileged immersions designed with local talent, continually opening up new facets of AlUla’s rich heritage. Tailor-made wellness and adventure tours provide insight into the ancient landscapes of AlUla and the lives of the people who inhabit it.

“The opening of the Banyan Tree AlUla marks the completion of the final phase of development of the Ashar Valley, which is also home to the famous Maraya Hall.” said Mr. John Northen, Executive Director – Head of Royal Commission Hotels and Resorts for AlUla. “The selection of Banyan Tree to operate this resort was driven by the synergy of the brand with the AlUla Royal Commission’s vision for the destination. Banyan Tree’s ethos is to provide a sanctuary for the senses in an awe-inspiring location with a great sense of place, which suits us perfectly at AlUla.”

The resort will feature two restaurants, including Saffron, Banyan Tree’s signature Thai restaurant, offering contemporary Thai cuisine. The renowned Banyan Tree Spa welcomes guests with carefully curated wellness experiences that combine Asian traditions and local elements.

“We are thrilled to launch Banyan Tree in the beautiful AlUla Valley in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Founded in the 6th century BC. AlUla is steeped in such history and we are honored to be a part of its heritage efforts,” said Mr. Eddy See, President and CEO, Banyan Tree Group. “Since we began our journey 28 years ago, we have pioneered the pool villa concept, and now we are bringing our useful and sustainable concepts to AlUla with fully-tented villas that complement the eco-destination existing.”
