ECDC: Spain is the safest destination in the EU

The European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) has declared Spain the safest destination in the EU, given the COVID-19 pandemic. ECDC has provided figures that cite most parts of Spain as safe. It also means that all of these regions have less than 50 infected cases per 100,000 population in recent weeks. It also refers to the fact that the positivity rate in these regions does not exceed 4%.

Currently, these regions have been labeled as
Green in Spain:

  • Galicia
  • Asturias
  • Cantabria
  • Pays Basque
  • La Rioja
  • Castile and Leon
  • Extremadura
  • Andalusia

A number of other regions of Spain are labeled as
Orange for now, but are considered safe to travel because the number of infections is very low. Spain has reportedly done a great job of containing COVID-19 infections with strict travel rules and security measures in the country. While Spain encourages travelers, both domestic and international, it is recommended that you take all necessary precautions and check the regulations specific to their country. The nation also has a list that mentions high-risk EU countries and regions; some of the names on the Spanish list are Germany, Austria, Belgium, Greece, Cyprus, Croatia, Slovenia, Estonia, Finland, Ireland, Iceland, Lithuania, Luxembourg , the Netherlands and Denmark.
