With the rescheduled 5th test due to start on July 1, the BCCI issued a strict warning to players to follow the advice of the medical team. The guidelines included not visiting public places, staying indoors unless absolutely necessary, and avoiding contact with fans. What BCCI said?: “It was very irresponsible for the team. They were informed of the risks and advised not to walk in public places without a mask. But we see Rohit, Virat, Rishabh and almost everyone ignoring all advice. It had to happen (Positive Rohit test),” a senior BCCI official told InsideSport on Sunday.

India Tour of England: BCCI very UNHAPPY with Rohit Sharma & Co, manager says ‘Very irresponsible they ignored all advice’

Although England have scrapped bio-bubble inclusion standards, players are expected to take appropriate safety measures while on tour. Last week, versatile veteran Ravichandran Ashwin missed his flight to England after testing positive for Covid. Prior to this trip, Virat Kohli also contracted the covid but traveled with the workforce after recovering.

“The board reprimanded some players for their habit of hanging out in public. It also appears that some players have gone public and clicked pictures with fans, which could be dangerous. We had told them to be careful but they were still wandering around the city often, which is not mandatory, so we again asked them to take precautions,” a BCCI source told ANI on Monday.
