It’s sad news for Indian fans as newly appointed vice-captain Rohit sharma will not play for the three-game test series against South Africa, due to his injury. Priyank Chahal is expected to be Rohit Sharma’s replacement.
According to reports, BCCI has announced that Priyank Panchal has replaced Rohit Sharma in the India test team. Rohit suffered a hamstring injury during his training session in Mumbai on Sunday. He was excluded from the next round of 3-game testing against South Africa.
Ajinkya Rahane will assume the role of vice-captain for the Test series. BCCI has yet to officially confirm Rohit Sharma has been elevated to vice-test captain, Rahane was removed from his post ahead of the South Africa series.
BCCI said it was a hamstring injury and Rohit Sharma has been reported to have suffered an arch to his hand. According to a PTI report, Rohit Sharma was given the role of vice-captain, wincing in pain.
According to the source, “There are a few problems with his hand, but the medical team are trying to fix them,” he added.‘
A BCCI official had informed Panchal who had scored 96 points in an A test match against South Africa A and had been called a cover.
The official informed âPanchal has been asked to report to the Mumbai team hotel tonight. He’s there to cover Rohit. Also because he recently played in South Africa and scored points, he was asked to join â, the official informed.
