Palace on Wheels soon back on track!

palace on wheels,

India’s famous luxury train is set to make a comeback soon, after its services were halted due to the COVID pandemic in 2020.

According to reports, Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation (RTDC) Chairman Dharmendra Rathore is likely to sign a new deal with Indian Railways soon. Revealing further, an official said the company will pay its dues, amounting to around INR 42 crore, before the luxury train resumes operations.

According to reports, the company has already handed over a check for INR 5 crore, while another installment of INR 3 crore will likely be paid this week.

Reports say that the railways and RTDC shared the revenue in a ratio of 56:44 from the revenue generated by the said train. However, the distribution scheme has been changed and the RTDC will now have to pay freight charges according to the Bharat Gaurav railway policy.

With regard to operation, RTDC in association with Indian Railways operated the
palace on wheels since 1982. The design of this luxury train is said to be inspired by the personal trainers of the leaders of yesteryear and features modern facilities in a heritage context.

While each car has a number of rooms, each room is decorated with details and furnishings that are in keeping with the local heritage. Its stops and route are also planned according to popular tourist trends. As such, a week-long visit on this train makes the journey as memorable as the destination.

If the reports are confirmed, the company is also considering reducing train fares to increase occupancy, and has a record average occupancy of 60-70%.

Currently, the train fare, in different categories, ranges from INR 55,000 to INR 1.53 lakh.
