Pant, who scored 740 points in 47 T20I at 23.12, came off almost identically while aiming for the big shot outside the stump.

“He didn’t learn. He has learned nothing from his three previous dismissals”Gavaskar said while commenting on Star Sports.

“There’s no way he’s had enough. He’s gone to third-court! They’re all planning it, the South African bowlers and Temba Bavuma… just play outside the stump and you’ll get him will have.

Pant has scored 29, 5, 6 and 17 in the last four innings.

“10 times, he was dismissed wide out of stock (in T20 in 2022). Some of them would have been called loose if he hadn’t made contact with her. Because he’s so far away, he has to reach out. He will never have enough power on it.

“To continue to come out in the same series in the same way, for a captain of the Indian team, it is not a good sign”, Gavaskar said.

Although he didn’t fire the bat, Pant used his resources well to orchestrate India’s comeback in the five-game winning streak to leave the series tied at 2-2.

After India crushed South Africa by 82 points in game four, Pant also admitted there were “some areas” in his batting that he needed to improve.

“As an individual, I can seek to improve in certain areas. Not too worried though. Seek to take the positives and seek to improve. Let’s see what is happening in Bangalore. Looking forward to giving our 100%”, Pant said during Friday night’s postgame presentation.

India will face South Africa on Sunday in the fifth and final T20I.
