Yes, you can now travel to beautiful Turkey, without COVID restrictions. In a recent travel update, the Turkish government removed all COVID-related restrictions for Indian travellers. The Turkey Tourism Board said that with the move, the nation hopes for the highest ever number of Indian tourists this year. Prior to this, travelers from India had to provide a negative RT-PCR test report or vaccination certificate to enter the country.
However, from today, Indian travelers can enter Turkey without any of these requirements, which makes things easier. The council said no proof of vaccination or recovery or a negative RT-PCR report will be required for Indians to travel to Turkey.
India‘s Indigo and Turkey’s Turkish Airlines have resumed direct flights to the country and expect to welcome Indian tourists in large numbers this year. Apparently, last year Turkey hit close to $25 billion in revenue last year and saw 103% growth in the tourism sector since the outbreak of the pandemic in 2020. The country has been visited by more than 30 million international tourists in 2021 and this year again, Turkey is all set to set a new record.
Among this huge number, 50,000 were only Indian tourists! This is why Turkey is so hopeful for a full recovery in tourism this year, now that people are eager to travel and discover unexplored destinations.
For those unaware, Turkey has been voted as one of the top destinations for Free Independent Travelers (FIT) and Meetings, Incentive, Conferences and Events (MICE) tourists from around the world.
